Free STL Viewer

Inspect STL geometry locally before slicing, 3D printing, conversion, or model handoff.

Browser-only, private

Inspect STL geometry locally before slicing, printing, or conversion.

How to inspect an STL in the browser

Open, orbit and check the mesh before the file goes to a slicer or a print queue.

  1. Open the STL

Choose an STL file up to 50 MB. The viewer also opens GLB, OBJ and FBX, and the format filter can stay on all supported formats.

  2. Orbit, pan and zoom

Drag with the mouse or use touch gestures to look at the silhouette, hollow areas, thin walls and stray floating shells from every side.

  3. Check scale and orientation

STL files do not label their unit, so confirm the import scale in your slicer and compare the part against a dimension you already know.

  4. Move the file on

Viewing is a check, not an edit: once the geometry reads correctly, continue in the slicer or converter you actually produce from.

STL viewer questions

  1. 1

Does this STL viewer upload my model?

No. The viewer runs in your browser and the model stays on your device.

  2. 2

    Which formats can I open?

GLB, OBJ, STL and FBX. Leave the viewer format on all supported formats to open any of them.

  3. 3

Why does an STL look plain and untextured?

STL keeps geometry only, without color, texture or PBR material data, so the viewer renders one untextured surface.

  4. 4

How large can the model be?

Up to 50 MB per file.

  5. 5

Does the viewer work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Touch gestures orbit, pan and zoom, as long as the device supports WebGL and has enough memory for the mesh.

Quick tips

  • STL keeps geometry only, so do not expect color, texture, or PBR material preview.
  • Use STL viewing as a quick geometry check before slicer import.
