Free PLY & Gaussian Splat Viewer

Open PLY point clouds and SPLAT Gaussian splat captures locally before review, handoff, or conversion.

Browser-only, private

Open PLY and SPLAT Gaussian splat captures locally before handoff or conversion.

How to open a PLY or SPLAT file in the browser

Check a Gaussian splat capture locally before you send it on or convert it.

  1. Open the file

Choose a PLY or SPLAT file up to 50 MB. The viewer also opens GLB, OBJ, STL, and FBX files, so one page covers the whole handoff check.

  2. Orbit, pan, and zoom

Drag with the mouse or use touch gestures to inspect the capture from every side, including thin structures and floater splats away from the subject.

  3. Read what a splat file contains

Colour, opacity, and point size come from the file itself. Positions are stored in the capture’s own coordinates, so treat the view as a preview rather than a measurement.

  4. Move the file on

Viewing is a check, not an edit. Once the capture reads correctly, download it, convert it, or drop the same image into the generator for a fresh capture.

PLY and splat viewer questions

  1. 1

Does this viewer upload my PLY file?

No. The file is parsed in your browser and never leaves your device.

  2. 2

    Which files can I open?

PLY (both Gaussian splat and point-cloud or mesh PLY), SPLAT, GLB, OBJ, STL, and FBX. Leave the format filter on all supported formats to open any of them.

  3. 3

Why does my PLY look like a cloud of dots rather than a solid model?

A 3D Gaussian splatting PLY stores one splat per point with its own colour, opacity, scale, and rotation, not triangles. The viewer draws each splat as a soft disc, which is exactly how the capture is stored.

  4. 4

How large can the file be?

Up to 50 MB per file. A full 262,144-splat TripoSplat export is around 18 MB.

  5. 5

Does the splat viewer work on a phone or tablet?

Yes, as long as the browser supports WebGL. Very large captures load more slowly on devices with less memory.

Quick tips

  • A Gaussian splat PLY stores colour, opacity, scale, and rotation per point instead of triangles, so the viewer draws soft splats rather than a mesh surface.
  • A TripoSplat export of 262,144 splats is roughly 18 MB and stays inside the 50 MB browser limit.
